British authorities proposed Iran direct bilateral negotiations on the fate of 15 British seamen detained, the press service of United Kingdom Prime Minister Tony Blair. According to the spokesman, the previous evening there had been “further contacts” between the two countries, which participated and the chief negotiators from the Iranian side, Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council (Robert) Iran’s Ali Larijani.

Earlier Tony Blair said that the next 48 hours “critically important” to resolve the conflict over the detention of British sailors and Iran that Larijani remarks about this “offer some prospects.”

In turn, Larijani said that Iran’s priority – “resolve the problem through the appropriate diplomatic channels”.
